To All My Facebook Friends

Hello Facebook Family!

Just wanted to write a little something to all of you to let you know how much I miss all of you!!  It has been a long 3 weeks now since I have meandered through the news feed keeping up with all of you.  But I do have to say I have NEVER broke Lent and I am not starting now!  Besides, April 8th is just around the corner.  I know for a fact I am gonna spend Easter sitting in front of the computer (or on my phone) scrolling through 40 days of status updates, reading messages and all that other Facebook fun!!

To catch you all up on me Me ME... I got a job!  I start March 26th at Michael's as the Store Designer/Floral Department!  I will finally get to work, I haven't had a job since 2011!!  Not that I haven't been trying.  I've sent out 100's of resumes and been to 27 interviews!  My sister Chrystal and I even went to Houston for a interview, I obviously wasn't offered a position. But everything happens for a reason I suppose.

Anyways I love and miss all of you.  See you back on Facebook soon!

My FAMOUS (and Secret) Chicken Fried Steak Recipe

I know the title of this blog may seem a little... arrogant, but you can only here how absolutely fabulous your recipe is until you start to believe it!  Just ask my brother-in-law Austin and he will tell you that I make the best Chicken Fried Steak ever.  That's why I love cooking it for him and everyone else!

Here's what you will need:
Beef Cube Steak
Vegetable Oil (do not substitute with any other oil)
Flour
Eggs
Buttermilk (Whole Milk is alright too)
Salt and Pepper

Take your cube steak and soak it in buttermilk in the refrigerator for at least 2 hours.  In a skillet (preferably cast iron) heat your vegetable oil over MEDIUM heat.  You want about 1/4 inch of oil in the skillet.  Drain the buttermilk off the cube steak and lay out the steaks on wax paper.  Salt and pepper each side of the steak.  In the same bowl you soaked your steaks in buttermilk beat 3-4 eggs and in a separate bowl put a good amount of flour.  I like to salt and pepper my flour and my well beaten eggs, this should be done to your taste.

Now the fun part!

Take each piece of steak and dip it in the egg, lightly coat each side in flour, dip the steak in the egg once more and then dredge in flour making sure the steak is well covered in the flour.  Double batter is one of the essentials to the excellence!  After all the pieces are battered and your oil is ready, gently place your steak in the oil.  Do not, I repeat, do not cook the steaks on any higher temp than MEDIUM!  Cook the steak until the blood begins to rise on the top of the uncooked side of the steak. (about 5-6 minutes, maybe less)  Flip your steaks over.  Cook on opposite side until golden brown.  Let steaks drain on a paper towel to remove excess oil.

Chicken Fried Steak so tender that you can cut it with a fork!!  To finish out my meal I like to serve peppered country gravy, homemade mashed potatoes, and sweet whole kernel corn with a big ole glass of sweet tea.  Prepare yourself for a lot of praise after serving up this southern comfort meal!

As with any recipe I share, I cannot stress enough the most IMPORTANT ingredient... LOVE!  Cook with love and you will never go wrong.

Until Next Time!

Hollee

How To Make Cascarones for Easter

Ingredients:
raw eggs
thumbtack
butter knife
bowl
bowl of warm soapy water
towel
egg dye
markers
glitter
fine confetti
spoon
colored tissue paper
scissors
Elmer's glue

  1. It's a tradition in the Southwest of the United States. Breaking them is a tradition that is supposed to bring good luck.
  2. On the top of the egg, poke a hole with a thumbtack. Be careful not to poke your fingers.
  3. On the bottom of the egg, make a hole about the size of a dime. Tap the end gently on a table, or hit the end with a butter knife. You should also use the thumbtack to break the yolk inside the egg. Shake the insides of the egg into a bowl and save them for scrambled eggs!
  4. Wash your egg with warm water and dry it off. Make sure to wash your hands well after you do this.
  5. Decorate your egg with egg dye or markers, or both.
  6. Then use a spoon to fill your eggs with confetti and glitter.
  7. Glue a small circle of tissue paper over the hole. You should pick a tissue paper color that matches the color you made the egg. Then you can disguise the hole! When the glue dries, you're ready to go.
  8. Always play with your cascarones outside. Chase your friends and shower them with confetti and glitter by gently breaking the eggs over (but not on) their heads.
  9. When the eggs are broken over your head, you are "Showered with good fortune."

"When I ponder on them seeds I don't find it nowise hard to believe that we've got souls that'll live in other worlds. You couldn't hardly believe there was life in them tiny things, some no bigger than grains of dust, let alone colour and scent, if you hadn't seen the miracle, could you?”

Another Excerpt from "The Xanax Journals"

"The Xanax Journals" is a compilation of my personal diaries dating back to Spring 2006.  I was living in Marlin, Texas and never spent a day not fucked up on something.  This particular entry pertains to a "down low" relationship I was in at that time.  All names of persons (besides those who I have permission from) are not revealed and any information that would clue as to whom the writing is about is and will be kept confidential.

{I don't mean to come across as an ass or a leech.  I promised myself that I wouldn't reveal what my heart truly feels because the worse thing in the world to me is rejection.  I am not your everyday "I'm here I'm queer" gay man.  I feel that when people take their relationship to the level of intimacy certain unspoken obligations take effect.  It has been days now and you haven't presented me any opportunity to even chit chat for longer than five minutes.  I know you are busy and the work that you do is of service for the better welfare of the community, that is one of the many reasons I am so attracted to you.

I am very sensitive when it comes to intimacy.  The whore in me died after countless numbers of casual sex and one nighters that never amounted to shit.  I realize that sex without emotion is useless, dangerous, and has no part in my life.  I really like you.  I feel that you may be everything that I am missing in my life.  If you can put into words what it is that I do not have or do not do, please tell me so I don't feel so rejected.  Yours Truly, M. Lee}

Dated July 8, 2006

It never feels good to come in second to someone you know will not provide all the things you would give to strengthen a healthy and everlasting companionship.  But yet you should not let failure affect you much because in the end all will realize what wrong was done and what those decisions made could have been, if they would have chose the other route in that particular situation...

I am plotting some evil shit in my mind just to appease the Aries Rising I am, but I have enough pride to just shake it off, move on and accept this rejection as their loss.  Fuck him and his super faggot ass drag queen boyfriend.

How could I want a relationship with someone who doesn't even have a relationship with themselves?  Always having to watch out for leaks of his dirty little secret.  Basically meaning that there will always be things, people, and situations that come before you.  I am better than that and although I am not perfect, I do deserve companionship where I am not being hid and where my love can be displayed openly and at least known exists.

This being said, I release him from my thoughts and from my heart with no regret, no emotion, and no wrath.  I wash my hands of him and free myself from anymore emotion concerning him in my life.  ~M. Lee Moore
